Clinics, Workshops, AAU Basketball "When you grow up in Harlem and come from nothing but love and determination every shot you take you pray you hit the stars, cause I know what ground zero is about! That's what drives me to go as hard as I do". -Lou Cole Mission: To promote and enhance social development and leadership skills in young people. "Life is very short and precious!!! We are only in this world for a short time...after you're gone, who are we remembered by??? How are we remembered??? Some people are OK with being remembered by friends and family, which is perfectly fine. As time goes on that memory fades. Others have a hunger that cannot be tamed or satisfied. You can direct this energy in a negative or positive manner depending on your make up...this comes from within and the impact society has had on your life growing up!!! A lot of people aspire to be great, only a few actually have the knowledge and know how!!! God has placed me in a race against my destiny and my legacy. They have a head start on me but I'm a patient individual, they will slow, which will allow me to catch them...Then the world will see not only do I preach and teach intestinal fortitude but I am the living word...Here and after." Lou Cole Louminati Youth Leadership Foundation teaches youth the fundamentals of the game of basketball, and even more importantly, the hidden secrets and methods that can be used to be successful in the game of life. Home Counselor, Llewellyn Cole, recently founded his own youth leadership
development organization allowing him to share the skills and ideals,
which he acquired growing up in Harlem, NY, and traveling the world as a
Providence College graduate, member of the School’s Elite Eight Team of
1997 and professional basketball player. The company,
Louminati, staged its first activity, a free basketball clinic, on July
22, 2006, at The Davy Lopes Center in Providence.
Several dozen youth participated in the event (covered by ABC and
FOX news) received instructions and tips from the likes of Ryan Gomes of
the Boston Celtics and Friar legend, Kevin Stacom, now a scout for the
Dallas Mavericks. The keynote
speaker was Rhode Island’s Attorney General, Patrick Lynch, who was once
a basketball star for St. Raphael Academy.
The youth were also provided with free food, DJ music, tee shirts
and bags; collected autographs and were greeted by Providence City Council
President, John Lombardi, and other elected officials. The company name
(Louminati) was the name given to Lou during his playing days at
Providence College. After
graduation Lou played professionally in Portugal (leading the team to the
league championship), Mexico and Luxembourg (where he also played a role
in the movie, The Emperor’s Wife).
He has also done commercials, receiving national exposure for the
brand, New Balance. Pride of his Alma
Mata, Lou was recently elected to the Board of Directors of the local
chapter of the Providence Alumni Association.
